District 13 to undergo an American remake.....?

David Belle - District 13

It's hardly done the rounds on DVD and now it's up for a remake ..... Hollywood style!

Listen, it wasn't exactly the most thrilling dialogue, but somehow I just don't think it's going to be the same with all those typical bad stunts and bad accents that generally comes with a "New and Improved Version 2 of exactly the same movie". All you need to do is take a look at the remake of Luc Besson's Taxi, where they used Queen Latifah, Jimmy Fallon and Giselle Bundchen. What a waste of space!!

They could never redo the kind of stunts in america that you get away with doing in France. It's ironic then that we potentially see yet another one of Luc Besson's films entering the hollywood editing suite to be "improved".

Not to mention the small fact that there was a reason it was done in France at some of those specific locations. It's where David Belle trained his whole life and the parkour community got to know so well.

What are we in for? Someone dropping of from the Statue of Liberty onto a moving boat???

Strictly NO GUYS allowed!

Saturday 14th March 2009 will see SA's first girls only parkour training session take place at Wits University, JHB.

Events like these have been happening across Europe, America and Asia and proven to be quite a hit. It's now finally reached SA, and we're hoping to see the SA girls representing!!! :-)

Designed to give the girls a break from the guys, in what is already a very male-dominated activity, and allow for a slightly more relaxed/chilled training environment, with various proven techniques which might help raise your own game and help you to enjoy your training session a bit more in the years to come.

This is an open and free session for anyone interested regardless of whether you've never trained or a seasoned vet, so looking forward to seeing you all there. (Ps, best to leave the high heels, lipstick and false nails at home ladies)

Location: Parking lot above the University of Witwatersrand (WITS) Planetarium parking lot, (Outside the Old Mutual Sports Hall)
