X-Ray JHB farewell - BenoniJam write-up

(Write-up by Diesel_Puma)

The Jam started out with all the Traceurs meeting outside Lakeside Mall... It had been a very long while since the "Originals" or now known as "MOYA AFRICA" had seen each other... The Traceurs there were X-Ray, Specs, Diesel_Puma, Dnk, Sonic, AJ, Udo and Steff.

We started very near to the Mall by a large walkway on the car park, which spiraled down to the ground level. Everyone warmed up and launched a few vaults over the handrails. We all found out that we were very rusty but just had to get back into it... Specs pulled off a decent King-Kong vault over two rails, which were a small distance apart but two stories high! We continued to gambol a bit more and then move on to our normal Benoni spot.

We passed the Bank, which had some nice rails and attempted Monkey Vaults to Underbars that were new to some. X-Ray and Udo also did a neat wall push to rail grab.

We arrived at the Fountain Spot aka Traceur Paradise (very similar to spots in France where PK all started out) and the serious Jamming started to Flow! Everybody pulled off numerous Vaults from Speed Vaults to high Dash Vaults! Specs pulled off a nice Overhead Rail Grab to Wall Cat and back. He then did a Wall Climb and a High Precision which had our group of spectators shocked and very surprised! Sonic and Udo did quite an intense Wall Precision to grass over water. The PK rolls were good but Udo decided landing on your head was better! :)

(Ed- OUCH. Udo did you survive ok?)

Sonic did some big Gap Jumps and poses for the camera followed by some King-Kong vaults. Specs and Udo did a high Wall Run which lead to Specs jumping off the roof onto a "Y" shaped tree and Catted back onto the wall. X-Ray and AJ also did several Jumps and Vaults. On the same wall, mind-blowing shots of Specs and Sonic launching Vertical Palm Spins were taken. The shots came out with Sonic looking like a chameleon routinely climbing along a wall! :)

(Ed- and when are we seeing these pics?)

X-Ray and AJ continued back to the center spot while Sonic, Specs and Udo went to higher ground, moving onto the roofs. One of the most impressive scenes of Parkour were seen here with AWESOME shots taken of Traceurs flying from a 1 and a half story car park to the roof of a 1 story building below! Udo and Sonic launched themselves sky high and landed on the roof below with Specs Monkey Vaulting the gap!

We moved back to join X-Ray and AJ which we then also met up with DNK. DNK was not to up to the task of Jamming (Personal Reasons) so was assigned bag watching duty. More vaults were flowed with X-Ray teaching another generation of on looking spectators the art of Parkour. X-Ray also did an interesting combo of Jungle Gym tapping to Speed Vault. Shots of earlier feats were taken as we neared the end of a Parkour entertained day! We ended off with a very exhausting Parkour Run through the whole area and after that most of us were bombed! We said our good-byes to X-Ray as the Jam was dedicated to him. (1 of the forefathers of Parkour in SA, which was leaving to go to  Kosi Bay)

The day was a blast with us all once again being revitalised with the Spirit and Flare of Parkour!

In addition, a HUGE congrats to the MOYA AFRICA team! X-Ray, Specs, Sanko, JaX aka Diesel_Puma and DnK

(Ed- DnK, we hope you feeling better soon. As for the rest of the jam, it seems as though things went off pretty well. Udo and Specs, let's hope we can see a bit more from you guys on the site here in the form of pictures. I'm sure the rest of us would like to see some of the things being described. X-Ray, Soopamom ... hope you guys have a fantastic stay out in the bundu. We hope to be hearing from you now and again. Good Luck)

Team Moya Announcement!
Posted by
Specs at 15:43

It's taken some time, and some thought, but we've finally come up with an official team to represent PKSA. It would seem odd, ironic, yet appropriate that the man (X-RaY) who came up with the name will also be heading up the team, together with myself (Specs).

Team Moya Africa, or just Team Moya (meaning "air" in Zulu), is the official team for PKSA. Therefore, Moya will handle official events, demonstrations and press events, representing PKSA. We hope that the team can gain some additional and needed exposure, to advance Parkour in South Africa.

The team will be headed up by X-RaY and Specs, who will be responsible for all team related issues, including amendments and member additions.

Congratulations to the following traceurs:
 X-RaY
 Specs
 Prophet
 JaX
 DNK
...you are the founding members of Team Moya!

A Team Moya link will be added soon, and will contain members' bio's and other team related news.
Speak out on the forums, and let us know what you think!

Remember, Team Moya is not a static group, and can grow! So keep training!

PKSA Addition - Forums

When we started this website, we wanted to make sure that we do not steal unneccessary traffic from our UK brother Urban Freeflow (www.urbanfreeflow.com). We used their forums, giving them a lot of traffic.

But this resulted in the creation of just one forum thread that is already 13 pages long. Not only that, the thread is not on one topic only, but a mix of anything related to PKSA.

Thus the creation of the PKSA Forums. You can access the forums from the menu at the top of each page. Or visit www.highlanders.co.za/parkour/forums/.

You will be required to register to be able to post anything. Just remember, keep is SA and keep it clean. Enjoy!
