A message direct from David Belle

In a statement released by David Belle on Parkour.NET early in November, he makes a couple of very important points. Ones which we should all be looking to adopt as part of our everyday training regime.

"In the 17 years I practiced this art, none of the traceurs I trained with or helped get into Parkour have had any serious wounds because I instilled them all with the fundementals of Parkour and made sure these were very important to them."

How many times have you heard of someone hurting themselves while practising Parkour? Too many to remember? Then read on...

"Proper training, countless repetition of all the movements and the care and calculation each time one is at height are very important."

Over and over and over again. Keep drilling the most basic of moves! Even if you think it is boring. It will probably save your life one day. Stay focussed at all times!

"Make sure you are in excellent physical condition,"

Need I say more? Parkour is not for the faint-hearted. It is very demanding, so keep up.

".. and do most of your practicing at ground level."

Do NOT try to do huge jumps just to impress people. Broken arms don't look too good, and besides, the longer you are out of action the more you will need to train to get fit again when the arm is fixed up.

"..please be careful and practice things little by little."

So there you have it. The man himself has compassion by asking you to take care of yourself and be prepared. One step at a time.
